Click to View November 19, 2009 HILTON HEAD ISLAND -- The end of the Summer and the beginning of Fall signals some of the best outdoor recreational fun in the Hilton Head area.....FISHING! Our nearby waters provide home for a tremendous variety of marine life and sportfish particularly red drum, speckled sea trout and flounder. Red drum a.k.a. redfish, puppy drum, spottail bass and channel bass can be found in abundance around this time along our shorelines and throughout our intricate system of estuaries. So grab a rod, some shrimp, mud minnows, fresh cut mulllet or artificial surface plugs and head for the nearest dock, pier or hop a boat and scout oyster beds, creek mouths and flats (shallows) for some great sport and wonderful table fare. For the novice or experienced angler, bait and tackle supplies are available at the Moss Creek Outfitters in the Moss Creek Village. When you visit, you might even hear some interesting outdoor stories. Know your "slot limits" for all species and, oh yes, take a youngster with you and it will be a guaranteed wonderful experience.
